About MeGrowing up, no one on TV looked like me. Reporters on the news never spoke Spanish, and when they addressed issues impacting marginalized communities it often wasn't with the same compassion or empathy I saw present in other stories. I started taking journalism classes my freshman year of high school because I wanted to be part of changing that. I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and use my voice to tell stories that challenge the status quo and include multiple perspectives, especially the ones often overlooked or pushed aside, including those of my Hispanic community. Ever since joining the student media program, I have prioritized listening for and then reporting on what isn't being said in the conversations and in the interactions we have daily and exploring why and how that can change.

I have been a broadcast journalist reporter for three years. Starting Junior year, I took on a leadership role as a producer. In this role, I help oversee our broadcast journalism program (EVTV) and make executive decisions about our program. Junior year fans weren't allowed in the stands at sports events, so our crew decided to learn to Livestream. I worked with Rob Martin from Colorado Mountain College to learn how to use our switcher and throughout the sports seasons that year, I facilitated the set up of the three camera live stream productions and ran the switcher. Over the years, I've learned not just the technical skills of composing shots and editing packages but also the value of listening, how to connect with others, how to lead by example, and how to lead a team. Outside of the media lair, I am a dancer and heavily involved in my community. Being a Hispanic woman and daughter of immigrant parents, I am driven by having compassion and empathy towards others. I will be pursuing a degree in media and journalism in college and a double major in dance at Colorado State University. In everything I do, I strive to continue to grow and learn.
